The goal of this unit is to provide students with the tools they need to better understand the value of sleep. Students will explore a variety of topics of increasing complexity, such as why sleep is important, what happens to their bodies while they sleep, and what the negative effects of a lack of sleep are. In addition, they will examine the obstacles prohibiting them from obtaining a good night’s rest, and understand why teenagers can have a unique relationship with sleep as compared to other age groups. At the end of this unit, students will design a skit that requires them to apply the knowledge learned throughout all five lessons.
