Meet the Generation Schools Network SEL & CCR experts who researched and developed the curriculum collections and professional development sequences.
Leslie Tjajadi, Manager of Whole Student Success
Leslie leads the social-emotional learning, health and wellness, and community engagement work at Generation Schools Network after starting as a Community Engagement Associate in 2013. During her time at GSN, Leslie has provided professional development in social emotional learning to hundreds of teachers, written and managed several grants, and implemented GSN’s Advocacy program in 20 different school districts. Prior to joining GSN, Leslie taught middle and high school English in both Costa Rica and Denver Public Schools. She has also spent a year doing community mobilization with International Justice Mission in Bolivia. Leslie has a BA in Spanish and an MA in Intercultural Studies and ESL Education from Wheaton College.
Katie Peyton, Implementation Manager
Katie has been a member of the GSN team since the spring of 2014. Since then, she has supported a school leadership team in both implementing the Generation Schools model and in providing general school support during the school’s first year of operation. She has helped create College and Career and Advocacy Units, conducts assessments of school's use of time and space, and advises on instructional best practices. Previously, she worked as a high school English teacher and administrator for a community school in Cincinnati, Ohio for six years.
Christon Harris, Implementation Manager
Christon is a New York native who has spent the last decade endeavoring to bolster and enrich the lives of young, disadvantaged people of color in urban areas. His professional and personal efforts reinforce each other. His early experience designing curriculum aimed to help students succeed in college is useful in his current volunteer roles for two mentoring programs supporting young men of color: The Sankofa Project and the Bronx Brotherhood Project. In this capacity, he follows high school senior boys through their college graduation and beyond, helping them with topics from financial literacy to cultural competence and blackness.
Melissa Muniz, VISTA Curriculum Development
After graduating from Pomona High School in Arvada, Colorado, Melissa moved to Fort Collins to receive her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Colorado State University. She became a VISTA with AmeriCorps shortly after her college graduation and was introduced to Generation Schools Network. With GSN, Melissa is currently assisting in curriculum development, focusing on college and career readiness.
Isabelle King, VISTA Curriculum Development
Samantha Sgourakes, Curriculum Development
Sam has her undergraduate degrees in Anthropology and Sociology-Based Human Relations from Connecticut College and a M.P.A from the University of Colorado, Denver. Drawn to the mission and whole-child approach of Generation Schools Network, Sam joined the team in 2015. Curating research and developing curricula for the Advocacy and College and Career Readiness programs, Sam has been proud to work for an organization dedicated to ensuring that students have the competencies to succeed personally, academically, and professionally.
